FAQ

What is the purpose of a seed library?

The purpose of a seed library is to share seeds, and return them after harvest. This allows local heirloom seeds to be prevalent in the neighbourhood as well as cuts down costs on seed acquisition.  It’s a method of trading different plants, and speicies.

What is a free seed library?

The seed library provides the public with free access to the ability to grow our own food. It aims to support local food systems, build seed saving literacy, as well as promote locally adapted plant genetics.

Is it really free to use?

The seed library at the Centennial Market really is free to use!

I don’t know how to save seeds? How will I contribute?

This is no problem! If you purchased seeds from a store or company, just bring the extras that you don’t plant in!

We will also be having a couple courses on how to properly save seeds from different plants. Watch for these in the event’s section.
